Canadian and international book publishers searching for supply chain improvements will immediately benefit from new efficiencies and integration opportunities made possible by Marquis Book Printing’s acquisition of the book warehousing and distribution services of Georgetown Terminal Warehouses (GTW).

The strategic extension of Marquis’ world-class book manufacturing operations to now include integrated book distribution services is part of the acceleration of its Horizon 2025 strategic plan. The goal is to provide book publishers with leading technologies, talented teams and efficient processes to help publishers successfully deliver printed books to readers and booksellers.

More Space to Grow in a Strategic Location

GTW is a well-known, 57-year-old book distributor operating a Toronto region based 80,000 sq. ft. warehouse facility. GTW is already serving some of the largest publishers in North America and is in proximity to Marquis’ digital inkjet and web offset printing plant in Toronto.

“We will be stronger together,” says Mike Collinge, EVP- New Business & Strategy at Marquis, who will be the head of the distribution operation, “Many of our common or respective customers have acknowledged the improved responsiveness, lowered environmental footprint and efficiency savings possible with integrated book manufacturing and distribution. Together we’ll develop new strategies and invest to keep printed books the preferred choice for readers.”

Brenda Sisnett, GTW President & CEO comments: “It’s clear that merging our expertise will create greater value, leadership, scale and will support innovation. We’ve been impressed with Serge, Mike and the Marquis’ team vision of how combining our companies together will offer all our customers and our employees new possibilities.”

Benefits for All Customers in All Book Markets

By partnering with one single source supplier for their printed book production and distribution needs, publishers will benefit with faster and more efficient combined time to market, as well as lower overall supply chain cost. Moreover, publishers will significantly reduce their eco-footprint and the distance that books will travel to arrive in the hands of readers. With an ever-changing, evolving book supply chain there will be numerous opportunities for publishers and Marquis to partner to develop advanced supply chain solutions.

Marquis’ President and CEO, Serge Loubier, concludes: “We are proud and excited to welcome the entire GTW team into the Marquis family. Within the next few months, the combined strengths of our teams will propel the creation of advanced supply chain solutions to produce and deliver books in the quantity publishers need with maximum speed and with a lower impact to the environment. More than ever, Marquis will be connected to the entire book value chain.”
